Windows 10: Fixing Gaps in the Taskbar
August 27, 2018 by Michael
I make pretty extensive use of pinning icons to my taskbar. After shuffling a few of them around and deleting ones I no longer use, I ended up with blank space where icons once where.
Here is an example of the problem:

In order to fix this problem I had to open regedit
and delete the following two values from the TrayNotify
key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify\IconStreams
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify\PromotedIconCache
Once those two keys are deleted you can either reboot your computer or simply terminate the explorer
task and restart it. Your choice.
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Thanks!
Restarting Explorer.exe fix my problem,
I had no such settings in my regedit
Tnx anyway
Thank you!
didn’t work
